Understated. Modern. Timeless.

In a moment of madness or divine intervention, Rupert Sanderson resigned from a promising career in advertising to learn traditional shoemaking at London Cordwainers College.

After working with Sergio Rossi and later Bruno Magli, and traveling around Italy on a motorcycle to view shoe factories, tanneries, and last makers, Sanderson struck out on his own with the eponymous brand.

Instead of bowing to the trend-obsessed “it” culture, Sanderson follows a simple design philosophy: ‘less is more’. This philosophy is evident in each of Sanderson’s designs, which are clearly grounded in classic silhouettes. He concentrates on perfecting line, volume, and material to flatter and lengthen the leg. Each pair is executed with fastidious attention to detail.

Ultimately, a Sanderson shoe delivers exemplary craftsmanship through a seeming simplicity of design.
